What pressure washing costs in the UK in 2026

Typical rates run £2.50–£4 per m² for driveways and patios and a little more for decking, with most operators setting a minimum job charge around £100–£150. A standard 40m² block-paved driveway lands at £150–£220 cleaned and re-sanded; a 20m² patio around the minimum charge.

Block paving needs kiln-dried sand brushed back into the joints after cleaning — skipping it is the classic corner cut in cheap quotes, and the paving moves and weeds within months. Sealing is a separate, larger job and should be quoted separately.

If you're the one behind the lance

Per-m² pricing keeps quoting fast and defensible — measure, multiply, state the minimum. The margin lives in the add-ons and the repeat cycle: re-sanding roughly doubles the ticket on block paving for minutes of work, and every surface you clean is due again in 12–18 months, which makes a simple reminder list worth real money.

Pricing questions, answered plainly

How much does pressure washing cost per m² in the UK?

Typical 2026 rates are £2.50–£4 per square metre for driveways and patios, and £4–£5 for decking, with a minimum job charge of £100–£150. A standard 40m² block-paved driveway is usually £150–£220 including re-sanding.

Why do pressure washing companies have a minimum charge?

Setup, water, fuel and travel cost the operator the same whether the job is 15m² or 60m². A minimum job charge — commonly £100–£150 — keeps small jobs viable.

Does block paving need re-sanding after pressure washing?

Yes. Cleaning strips the kiln-dried sand from the joints, and without re-sanding the blocks can move and weeds return quickly. Re-sanding is typically charged at £1–£2 per m² on top of the clean.

How often should a driveway be pressure washed?

Every 12–18 months is typical in the UK climate. Moss and algae regrow fastest on shaded, north-facing surfaces, which may need an annual clean plus a weed and moss treatment.
