Pressure washing prices, per square metre.

Driveways, patios and decking priced the way the trade actually prices them: a rate per square metre by surface, a sensible minimum job charge, and re-sanding or the high-margin seal on top.

How it prices: A blended rate of £3–5 per square metre for hard surfaces (around £3.50 is typical), multiplied for your area, with re-sanding or a full seal priced per m², a heavily-soiled premium, and a minimum job charge. Sealing is the trade's high-margin upsell — a job in its own right at around £10/m² including re-sanding, which the manual calls 'the profit'. What pressure washing costs in the UK in 2026

Hard surfaces price on a blended rate of £3–£5 per m², around £3.50 typical — so a standard 40m² block-paved driveway lands near £165. Priced per job, driveways run £100–£300, patios £80–£250 and decking £80–£200, depending on size and how badly soiled they are.

Block paving needs kiln-dried sand brushed back into the joints after cleaning — skipping it is the classic corner cut in cheap quotes, and the paving moves and weeds within months. Sealing is a separate, higher-margin job (patios £250–£600, block paving £400–£900) — you can add it in the calculator above.

If you're the one behind the lance

Per-m² pricing keeps quoting fast and defensible — measure, multiply, state the minimum. The real margin lives in sealing, not cleaning: a block-paving seal is £400–£900 for a job with 70%+ margin, and every surface you clean is due again in 12–18 months, which makes a simple reminder list worth real money.

Pricing questions, answered plainly

How much does pressure washing cost per m² in the UK?

Hard surfaces price on a blended rate of £3–£5 per square metre, with around £3.50 typical. A standard 40m² block-paved driveway is usually near £165. Priced per job, driveways run £100–£300, patios £80–£250 and decking £80–£200.

Why do pressure washing companies have a minimum charge?

Setup, water, fuel and travel cost the operator the same whether the job is 15m² or 60m². Most small jobs floor out around £80–£100, which is why tiny areas are priced at a job minimum rather than strictly per m².

Does block paving need re-sanding after pressure washing?

Yes. Cleaning strips the kiln-dried sand from the joints, and without re-sanding the blocks can move and weeds return quickly. A light re-sand is typically £1–£2 per m² on top of the clean; a full seal (around £10 per m²) includes the re-sand.

How much does it cost to seal a driveway or patio?

Sealing is priced per job, around £10 per m² including re-sanding: roughly £400–£900 for a block-paved driveway and £250–£600 for a patio. It is a separate, high-margin job that suppresses weeds, stabilises the joints and holds the just-cleaned finish for two to three years.

How often should a driveway be pressure washed?

Every 12–18 months is typical in the UK climate. Moss and algae regrow fastest on shaded, north-facing surfaces; a heavily soiled or never-cleaned surface carries a premium because it takes far longer than a maintained one.
